WHAT TO EXPECT?
At your first visit..
At
the first visit to Dr Stramotas, diagnostic records are made to
determine the best course of treatment available to suit your needs.
Complete diagnostic records typically include:
- A medical and dental history
- A clinical examination
- Plaster models of the teeth
- Photos taken of the patients face and teeth
- Two x-rays needed to evaluate the teeth and surrounding bony structures
This
information is then used to develop a custom treatment plan for each
patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of
treatment as the teeth and jaws move whilst undergoing
orthodontic treatment.
Consultation:After, Dr Stramotas
has evaluated your records, he and the treatment
co-ordinator discuss your treatment options with you in detail,
including the cost and payment plans for your particular case. Things that Dr Stramotas will be evaluating are:
- What are your main concerns
- The alignment of your teeth
- Overall facial harmony
- How your bite comes together
- How your jaws are aligned
- How your teeth function during chewing movements
- The health of your gums
If treatment is indicated, Dr Stramotas will discuss with you:
- Different types of braces (external, internal or removable sequential aligners)
- Whether any auxiliaries such as expanders are necessary
- Estimated length of treatment
- Estimated cost of treatment
- The answers to any other questions or concerns you may have
Regular appointments:
The
majority of your appointments will be short adjustment appointments
(15-20 minutes). Your initial braces on appointment (Braces, Expanders
etc) usually take approximately 1-1 1/2 hours and this includes
instructions on maintenance, diet and oral hygiene. You will then see
us at regular intervals 6-8 weeks apart for an adjustment appointment
which usually take 15-20 minutes. Our regular office hours are 7.30-5pm
Monday to Friday. Patients are seen by appointment only. We
make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you
extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment,
please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency as it
is difficult to reschedule appointments made 6-8 weeks in
advance. |
